There are some books that we take on for Bookworm which challenge and encourage me. Some of them are quick and powerful, while some are long and unhelpful. But that’s the benefit of reading books quickly. You get to experience a bunch of them.
But the latest book for Bookworm, The Artist’s Way has led me to start more experiments than almost every other book we’ve read so far. And I have to say I’ve been enjoying those experiments so far.
So if you haven’t read it, I highly recommend it. You can see my results from reading it spread out throughout this newsletter and likely the next few to come.
What I’m reading
The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron
I was right. This one is back this week. I’ve slowed down on reading for this one because it needs more attention to consume correctly. Especially when I’m accelerating the pace I’m supposed to be doing it in.
Principles by Ray Dalio
And since I still have The Artist’s Way around, I still have this one around as well.
No new podcasts released this week. But hold on to your shorts. This next week is looking like a heavy release.
Books added to the list
Abundance: by Peter H. Diamandis and Steven Kotler
This one was recommended to me by my mother-in-law. Not sure what to think about that. 🤔
Interesting Productivity Guild topics
Once again, I’ve failed to keep up with the Guild which causes it to suffer. I could pull this section out of the newsletter when this happens but that feels like I’m trying to hide it. It’s life. And with Christmas around the corner, I’ve been swamped.
Words That Challenge
No one makes a living on Patreon | The Outline
Patreon has been a service I’ve never understood. It seems like a great idea but it also gives off the impression of a sophisticated membership software much of which you can replicate with a WordPress site and a membership software like Paid Memberships Pro. So I wasn’t surprised when I ran across this article.
THIS → Social media is keeping us stuck in the moment
Here’s something we all know but don’t want to admit. But I love that the writer gives an alternative solution to the “latest-only” feeds out there.
Meditation - I don’t get it. Not yet. I’ve been at it for long enough now that I feel like I should be sensing some improvements somewhere. But I haven’t seen them yet. I’ll continue the process and keep looking for changes but right now it doesn’t look good.
Morning Pages - I’m still doing these and I think they’ll remain even after I’ve finished The Artist’s Way. I’ve been seeing some real improvements in a lot of my life and a lot of clarity on topics that I haven’t seen before. And I attribute that to these Morning Pages.
No mobile email - I pulled email from my phone. I’ve been shocked by the number of times I’ve opened Mail on my phone and seen the “set up mail” screen. And to be honest, I’m ok with that. I’m also ok with the delay of getting responses out the door. At the same time, I haven’t had any issues with clients over it. Maybe I should have done this a while back.
If you'd like these in your email, you can either subscribe here on the Guild or via my website.
